What is Healthy Connections?
Healthy Connections is the Idaho Health and Welfare’s Managed Care Program for Idaho Medicaid. Most people who are eligible for Medicaid must enroll in the Healthy Connections program.
- Helps you get the health care services you need.
- Links you with a Medicaid doctor.
- Helps limit the rising cost of the Idaho Medicaid program.
- When should I call Healthy Connections?
- If you need help in choosing a doctor.
- If you have questions about the program.
- If you want to change doctors.
If you are moving to a new area, you must call before you move otherwise you may not be able to use your card in the new area. Your Healthy Connections contact will help you find a new doctor and change your Healthy Connections doctor so you will not need a referral.
Who will be my Healthy Connections doctor?
If you already have a doctor and that doctor accepts Medicaid insurance, you may not need to change doctors. If you do not have a doctor, Healthy Connections can help you to find the doctor that is right for you.
What happens if I go to a doctor who is not the one I signed up with through Healthy Connections?
The doctor may refuse to treat you without having a referral from your regular Healthy Connections doctor. If you do receive treatment, you may be billed for that treatment. If you want to see a doctor other than your regular Healthy Connections doctor, call Healthy Connections first and ask to change doctors.
