Empowering Women ... Building Community!
What is International Women’s Day?
“International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8 to recognize women’s achievements throughout history and across nations. It is also known as the United Nations (UN) Day for Women’s Rights and International Peace.” For more information go to http://www.internationalwomensday.com/
On March 1, 2012, Boise's First Thursday* will be dedicated to
International Women’s Day again this year.
*First Thursday is a monthly Downtown Boise Association (DBA) event.

In March 2011 eight non-profits collaborated with DBA to host the first community-wide Boise International Women’s Day celebration during First Thursday. Once again participating non-profit organizations will connect with the public to provide information about their services, programs, and fundraising activities. Please support this effort by gathering the stamps for the “Empowering Women – Building Community” passport. This will take you on a journey to participating businesses which are hosting the non-profits and a few wineries along the way. For more information go to http://www.facebook.com/BoiseIWD.
We look forward to celebrating Treasure Valley’s
International Women’s Day with you on March 1, 2012!
The 2012 International Women’s Day is themed Empowering Women…Building Community! If your organization’s mission and services do just that -- empower and strengthen women in order to keep our valley a healthy, thriving, successful community in which to live and work -- then you may want to participate in our celebration.
DBA members (retailers, galleries, restaurants, etc.) have agreed to host participating organizations for the evening, meaning they will allow non-profit organizations to set up displays and distribute materials in their businesses to raise awareness about what their organization does in the community.
